the battle of good and evil: in your mind

Negativity bias, evil forebodings, dread, fear, depression. The fixation on negative things. The belief that something bad is going to happen. Anticipation with fear. Worst case scenario mentality. Anxiety, worry. Self sabotage, negative thinking. These are some bad things. And they can be a horrible burden for your life. Fight the GOOD fight of faith, and rid yourself of all this darkness.

The negativity bias is the idea that psychologically we focus more on and take more notice of bad things than on good things. We were not designed to experience trauma, pain, loss and suffering by God, so we are extra sensitive to negative events. Therefore we put our focus on them. We were created for goodness, joy and peace. Jesus came to restore these things.

First of all, take Jesus' yoke

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

To counteract the 'negativity bias' it is sugested to have gratitude. Instead of ruminating on a disapointment, think back to happy memories and dwell on that for a minute, then be thankful for it. In scripture it  asks us to be thankful, it is Gods WILL.  Be obedient to God and regularly thank Him for your blessings. Give your daily life and past a positive sifting. Cherish and meditate on the good things that happened. This is a mental battle. In Phillipians we are told to fill our thoughts with whatever is true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

                                           Believe this message of hope

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Rejoice in this promise of progress

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Evil forebodings is having faith in bad things happening. This mindset can be a result of traumatic childhoods or pasts. We are commanded to have faith in God, and God is good and God is our deliverer. He is also our healer.

We are instructed to be anxious for nothing, to fear not. Our God is the prince of peace and we inherited that peace

Look forward to your eternal future

Everlasting joy shall be on the head of the redeemed. They shall obtain gladness and joy
