Worshiping God with Music (Who, How, When and Why)

To bring God's presence into your room or church building, wherever
psalms 33 and 100 have the keys to do it.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving (psalm 100:4)

  * whatever good thing, no matter how tiny and how huge, there are so many blessings we have to thank God for.

And into His courts with praise (psalm 100:4) 

  * We serve a great and awesome God, there are many things about Him we can adore and praise Him for; from psalm 100:5- For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

 (Praise Him for His great goodness, great mercy, and eternal truths)

Come before His presence with  singing (psalm 100:2) 

  *God wants you to sing. If you can't sing well or think you can't sing, it is OK, go ahead and sing.

Praise the Lord with the harp (psalm 33:2)

  *A harp would be great, but most people have guitars 😊

Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings (psalm 33:2)

  *God is specifically asking you to choose a 'melodic' style of music. Our great God has great preference in music = )

Sing to Him a new song (psalm 33:3)

  *Sing diverse and creative songs about Him. God is full of amazing qualities, so there will always be a true reason to sing to Him. Sing to Him about whatever He has done for you in the past or currently. 

Play skillfully with a shout of joy (Psalm 33:3) 

  *This verse is geared specifically towards musicians. It is specific in saying play well with skill. To those with musical ability: Work hard at your talent(s). Become the best guitar (or harp or any instrument) player you can be. Be a good steward of the gifts God has given you. They were given to you to glorify Him.                                                                                 

  When you are seeking God through music, be extreme and expressive. Be happy, celebrate Him. There are many reasons why we would rejoice with music dedicated to the Lord. "The Lord has done great things for us and we are glad." Psalm 126:3

From the Bibles instruction, thanking God and singing loud, joyful, creative words of praise will get you through His gates, into His courts, and within His presence. And from the Bible we have instruction for musicians to be skillfull musicians  and to play melodically. 
Music is a gift from God and a great part of life. And it's a special, unique way to worship Him, like no other act of worship.               

                               Sing to the Lord a new song;

    sing to the Lord, all the earth.

      Sing to the Lord, praise his name;

     proclaim his salvation day after day.

 The fascinating thing about worshiping God explicitly with music is that the Angels are doing it constantly in heaven. when you worship God with music, you are in a sense- entering into eternity

  

All of creation was meant for God's glory. All of creation worships Him, not just people. Nature worships Him, even the trees glorify and praise Him

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad...

    let the sea resound, and all that is in it.

Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;

    let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

People, Angels and Nature sing praises to God.  Everything created does.

All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.

And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!

 

God is worshiped because He is worthy of worship. He has WORTHship. He's worth it. He deserves it. and He should be worshipped.

 Let's uncover the heart of the human being. The offering of our hearts is important in worshiping God

The heart is the core of a person. The mind, emotions and will are intertwined to it.
The heart should be humble before an all powerful all loving and holy God. 
The mind should worship God with understanding. If you can think of a blessing God has given you, worship him. Meditate on His attributes and worship Him for those reasons. This isn't mindless worship. There are real reasons why we should worship.

The emotions. Worship God by desiring God the most and having a passion and zeal for Him

Though we can't see God, we have evidence of His existence through creation. An arrow pointing us in the direction of faith

The will should worship as an act of faith. As your mind understands fundamental and foundational facts or truths about God, ourselves and the world. Walk into worship in faith. Worship God, who you cannot see.

"But without faith it is impossible to please God"  -Hebrews 11:6

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind

We should worship God. God should be worshiped with music. He should be worshiped constantly. Because He is worthy of it.
