'The Pursuit of Happiness', Emotional Health, and Truth

   T he United States Declaration of Independence protects the rights of 'life', 'freedom' and 'the pursuit of happiness.' The last right is terribly flawed. The first two rights should be true for every life, but the pursuit of happiness is misleading and flawed. It's very general and vuage so its hard to define what the US declaration of independence is saying. For the sake of emotional health, 'the pursuit of happiness' should not have been mentioned. Everybody wants to be happy. But everyone should not be looking for it. We should not be idolizing this emotion. After all, it's just an emotion and should not be your dominating driving force. The pursuit of happiness ends in failure and you can never capture it full time like the declaration of independence encourages. In therapy sessions you might be asked to evaluate and ask your self questions why you feel sad. This is true for happiness. You should evaluate why you feel happy feelings. Happ
